Hello and welcome to Cambodia!

this morning, as I ran through some last minute packing and dog organising, I caught a glimpse of the sky -

... what a fantastic way to be beaconed towards the skies!
We had some extra time at the airport, as our flight was delayed...

and then we were off. Weeeee!

I didn't take long to settle in, with a cozy blanket and matching purple pillow.

The flight went by quickly. Here is Naomi, as seen through a part of the little galley area :)

In the meantime, I have been reading the manual for my new camera and discovered that they advise against sneaky farts! Look at the cheeky smile this young lady is wearing -

I hope to discover more wholesome, camera related advice next time around.
Our flight landed in Singapore and we scurried through kilometres of travellators, to make it just in time - Zero minutes to spare. Landing 40 minutes late, there was a very efficient passport and visa process at Phnom Penh customs. One of the highlights was the string of bejewelled officials working as a little production line, headed by a fellow with the most spectacular hairy mole I have seen in a long time.
Naomi was ushered through the "nothings to pay here'' section, and I was fortunate enough to go through the Diplomat section - my official man even had a special hat :)

Through the gate and into the city, the kind man from the Riverstar Hotel was still wearing a smile when he greeted us. The ride through Phnom Penh to the river was a wonderful introduction to a new headspace for us - hustle and bustle, Cambodian style.

From traffic lights that count down how long it is until they change in big neon numbers, to motorbikes stacked with extended families... there is much to entertain us on these streets!

The above image is where we grabbed a late meal, across the road from our hotel. Tuk-Tuks and motos galore.
To aid our hygiene for the meal they gave us this Good Smell Clean Safely device. Remember to use only once!

I will leave you now with a surprise encounter - I have not seen these little critters in many years, it is the Tchk Tchk lizards! Very cute little geckos that live upside down on the ceiling, making little clicky noises to eachother. I was quite excited... I wish that my ceilings at home had an upside-down community chittering away.

So that marks our first day of travel. We wish you all many smiles and look forward to sharing more with you soon.

- Naomi and Guy.
